About Neysting

Our project 'Neysting' was last active in 2018 when we showcased our innovative product "BátaBólið" - a cocoon/tent that we installed in traditional boat house, made of Faroese wool and designed with inspiration from the Faroese rowboat.
We are now running this crowdfunding campaign, seeking money to finance our first season of Neysting experiences on Suðuroy , the southernmost island of the Faroes. this sommer. Neysting is now ready with a holistic experience on the beautiful location “niðri á Møl”.

The money we need, will be used for rebuilding a boat house on the location (a boat house that today is a ruin) that will function as a restroom, establish a campfire on the foreshore for guests to cook on open fire and furthermore to furnish the existing boat house that you sleep in with a fireplace and other hospitable necessities for guests.

If you want to support the project you can buy the unique experience now and get it this summer (if we succeed in funding the whole amount) by backing the crowdfunding campaign.

This step is the first step in reaching Neysting’s progressive goal: to mark the Faroe Islands on the world-map with this one of a kind experience.
With this project Neysting’s purpose is to preserve the traditional Faroese boat houses as architectural and cultural heritage. As well as to shine light on Faroese cultural heritage as a whole and furthermore shine light on the identity of the Faroese people.
Also Neysting wishes to showcase the beauty of Faroese nature and the inherent healing qualities that nature can have on e.g. people that are stressed or suffer from anxiety.

If you want to contribute honoring and preserving Faroese traditions, Faroese building culture and traditional Faroese craftsmanship - wisdom that was given to us from our ancestors and that made us who we are today, and that we can benefit from remembering and using, then we ask yo to back the Neysting project here on the right.

The picture above is of Elin Maria and Neysting's boatbuilder Hanus Jensen looking at the first frame that was built for BátaBólið, and how it fits perfectly into a Faroese rowboat. Hanus build the wooden construction of BátaBólið according to Faroese traditional craftsmanship. Hanus works as a boatbuilder building faroese rowboats for the Viking Museum in Roskilde, Denmark.
